Our feelings are created by the way we think about or interpret the situations we are facing. We mostly understand what is happening around us through the lens of previous life experiences, relationships and the way we view our capabilities of handling things. We match events against our internalised concepts of fair and unfair, using our self-perception and our internal locus of evaluation (self-value) to determine how much we are under attack, often triggering the fight, flight, freeze process or an emotional tornado of different proportions that may manifest itself through energised negative emotions such as anger, panic or stress, or through low energy emotions such as despair, hopelessness and depression

Talking to a counsellor can help you examine what is going on inside you in a safe way. Counselling is about working through the layers of emotions to discover the beliefs and life scripts that are causing them. It is about learning about ourselves and what are the stumbling blocks that are tripping up our wellbeing and emotional health.

Counselling is about telling your story in other to give you a choice of how you want to script the next chapter. It is about looking at yourself in the mirror and giving yourself the same love, forgiveness, understanding and acceptance that you would give to those you care deeply about.

Whether life’s turbulence has come about through trauma, loss and grief, abuse, neglect or a deeper need to find meaning, counselling will give you a safe place to voice your innermost feelings, fears and doubts while beings supported. Counselling will also help you develop techniques to manage the overwhelming feelings that are causing turbulence in your life.
