Kadimah Counselling was founded in 2005 by Esther Cohen, inspired by her primary research on the counselling needs of Jewish university students and her vast experience as a counsellor, teacher and educator.

It is widely recognised that emotional wellbeing is key for life to flourish. With the increasing uncertainties and pressures of life in the twenty-first century, individuals are often too rushed or too weary to stop and take stock of their feelings. Issues are ignored and swept under the carpet as life moves on until such a time when the accumulation of emotions, sometimes precipitated by a trigger or trauma, becomes too overwhelming for a person to find healing on their own.

“You don’t have to do it alone”

Kadimah Counselling uses an integrative approach to counselling. It also offers life coaching. Sessions are delivered over video calls or in-person, according to clients’ preferences. Kadimah Counselling strictly adheres to the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists’ (BACP) Ethics Code of Practice.

Esther Cohen is Kadimah Counselling’s director.

Esther is a registered counsellor and has a fellowship in Life Coaching. She was born and grew up in Brazil. Having trained as a teacher in the USA, Esther then moved to the UK where she qualified as a therapist at the University of Birmingham. Esther went on to do a Graduate Teaching Programme to obtain QTS followed by the Ashdown Fellowship which focused on leadership through NLP. She continued her studies, completing an Advanced Diploma in Life Coaching and being awarded a Fellowship to the ACCPH. Esther trained as a section 48 school inspector and completed a Master in Jewish Education. Her studies explore the neurobiological effects of stress on the brain and how faith education can be a vehicle to promote positive mental health through teaching pupils self-regulation skills. Esther has worked in different settings and with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds.

Kadimah Counselling aims to support you through personal growth and/or challenges that come with life. Kadimah means ‘forward’. Please remember,
